In a nutshell: There are rumblings that AMD is prepping a pair of new low-cost graphics cards that would mark the debut of its RDNA 3 GPU architecture in the entry-level desktop space. If these leaks pan out, the cash-constrained PC gaming crowd may soon have some new options to consider when upgrading their rigs.

The scoop comes courtesy of Komachi_Ensaka on X. The GPU leaker writes that AMD is cooking up two new low-cost GPUs, called the RX 7400 and RX 7300, both based on the Navi 33 silicon that currently powers the higher-end RX 7600 cards.

It's highly unlikely that the rumored cards would get the full Navi 33 treatment, though. The Navi 33 chip in the current RX 7600 GPUs packs a serious punch with 2,048 shader cores and a 128-bit memory interface.

More realistically, we're probably looking at trimmed-down variants with some cores and other components disabled to fit the lower price points. The RX 7400 could keep that 128-bit bus and 8GB of VRAM from the 7600, but with fewer cores running at lower clocks. As for the 7300, you can expect even further cuts to the specs.

One advantage these new entry-level GPUs may have over the previous RDNA 2 generation is the addition of dedicated AI acceleration and hardware AV1 encoding support. These features could make them decent options for budget-conscious buyers if the price and performance hit the sweet spot.

Such buyers could benefit from an alternative to Nvidia's RTX 3050 that isn't merely an underperforming, pared-down Intel Arc graphics solution.

Of course, these are all guesses at this point. It's also possible that the leaker got the names wrong and the two GPUs in question might actually launch as the Radeon RX 7500 and RX 7400 instead. Either way, we'll likely have to wait until closer to the end of the year or early 2025 for official word.

AMD is expected to unveil its next-gen RDNA 4 architecture at CES in January 2025. It wouldn't be surprising to see these entry-level RDNA 3 cards sneak out alongside that bigger GPU launch.

OMG how bad will this garbage be. 64 bit bus, slower than 6500XT and 6400XT two of the worst cards ever.

Just buy hell even 5700XT/5700 or second hand RDNA 2

It's probably just a path to get some cash flow on low performing chips piling up in the back room. Underclock and at least get something back from the already paid for parts.
