Nothing Ear (2)

The Nothing Ear (2) sound great and have solid noise cancelling, plus extra features at a very competitive price. However, the new high-quality audio mode doesn’t work well on the company’s own smartphone.

Taken as an overall package, there’s quite a lot to like about the Nothing Ear (2). Thanks to the extensive nature of the control app, ownership feels like quite a bespoke experience, and thanks to a combination of assertive sound quality (almost too assertive where treble is concerned) and effective noise cancellation, they’re an enjoyable listen. And because of Nothing’s industrial design language, they’re quite individual lookers.

At $149, the Ear 2 earbuds represent a well-rounded pair of midrange earbuds. They’ve got all the style of the Ear 1s but without their rough edges. The likes of Sony, Apple, and Samsung may still rule the roost when it comes to more premium earbuds, but the Nothing Ear 2s are a capable alternative if you’re on a (slightly) tighter budget, even if they’re not quite the steal they would have been at under $100.

The Nothing Ear 2 double down on a lot of what made the original Nothing earphones so good, while making some much-needed changes. They're a second-generation product, and it absolutely shows.

The Ear (2) are fantastic at their price and a superb addition to the noise-cancelling headphone market. While we'd like a touch more battery life to truly make them the full package, their performance, feature set and unique design mean they demand the consideration of anyone looking for affordable true wireless buds.

We are happy to report that we are quite impressed with the improvements here. These just don't sound like other earbuds in their price category — or beyond — and we mean that in a good way. If you are in the market for new wireless earbuds, and if your budget allows a $150 spend, we would definitely recommend these. Fit, comfort, sound quality, and character — they are all there.
