Black Myth: Wukong GPU Benchmark - 43 GPUs Tested!

Hey Steve , where is the great sketch of your video . I m not interested in this game at all . But your art was amazing

Seems to be a solid GPU burner for benchmarks. I'll second foxes that I'm not interested in the game but look forward to seeing this level of graphics in future games.

My reaction to PC Games thesedays is simply this... Unless you have a 4090, it will perform terribly.

Don't just 'git gud'....'get rich'.
I m playing NFS Unboud with Nvidia frame generation and I get 3x performance ! The image quality is very good . No upscaling , no phony raytracing but high preset .

Thanks guys, I appreciate the amount of work that went into doing these benchmarks. I'm off to sell a kidney in exchange for a 4090. 😉

No , it does work I
I have 60FPS cap because of the monitor , without frame generation GPU usage 68% , with frame generation 23%
I can't even... Frame generators are detached from the game's rendering engine. You are not gaining a 3x performance boost by using it.

The lower utilisation you see is the game probably rendering at 20 FPS rather than natively at 60 FPS, and using AI to guess/approximate motion and self generate fake frames to fill. The human eye will detect this as smoother motion, but you're not magically getting 3x the performance out of whatever card you are using.

You might also be using DLSS, further reducing the utilisation by rendering the game at a lower res and upscaling it to your monitors resolution. This also isn't adding extra performance to your card's actual rendering power.

Turn off one or both and you'll see.

No need of such extremes . Take a look at native res , med quality . Raytracing is pointless as long as you use high preset . Raytracing taxes the GPU heavily , for no reason .

themastergoose , no upscaling , no shoddy raytracing , native res + frame generation . I m getting constant 60FPS . I check this with Microsoft Game bar . Upscaling yielded almost nothing but worse graphics quality in my case .

The downgrade is more than noticeable with FG. It introduces artifacts for pixels that are changing fast, so everything beside the center of the screen.

Not only this, but it is a tech you can only use in single player experience because it introduces a lot of latency.

You are better off without it unless you are desperate.

Anyway, it should not even be a benchmakred feature, period!

How is 90 fps at 1080p with a $2000 card acceptable?

Everyone should have their pitchforks ready.

Not the people who were around when Quake and Crysis came out, when flagship hardware struggled to achieve playable rates at high settings.

Assuming Wukong isn't an unoptimised mess doomed to a life of patching, maybe it's intended to be a hero game for hardware to 'grow into' or a target for other devs to aim for.

(Also remember that's only a $2000 GPU because nVidia decided it would be and the market rolled over for it. Better performance/price ratios are available.)

I believe my eyes . As you wish . I ve seen/played games with bad antialiasing and what not . This thing works for me and the graphics quality is very good . But upscaling output was underwhelming in my case

But can it run Wukong? :)
Thanks for the huge benchmark aria, Steve.

This seems to be the most taxing game for the time now. A hint about upcoming AAA Unreal games? Better save for that 4090 If you want eye candy (fully) turned on...

Granted, it looks fantastic!

I think we can just write off cinematic mode as there only for screenshots and future GPUs. It doesn't seem to be meant for normal gameplay. The 4070 Ti for example goes from 59 to 102 @1080p fps just by dropping from cinematic to high. You usually don't see that kind of a delta between ultra and high settings, that's a 72% increase in framerate!

With that being said, all the RT was tested in cinematic mode, which gives a sense of RT being completely unusable in this game, where that might not really be the case at all.

You are probably blind then because I use it also and I can tell easily when FG is on.

I read a lot of GPU reviews before buying and a lot of them said AMD cards are less expensive but very good.
What happened?
