BJP forms 4-member committee to investigate alleged assaults

The Rajasthan unit of the Bharatiya Janta Party on Thursday formed a four-member committee to investigate the abduction and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and left 25 km from her home in the Alwar district in Rajasthan on Tuesday evening.

The four committee members are Alka Gujjar (Secretary, National BJP), Jaskaur Meena (MP Dausa), Alka Mundra (BJP President Mahila Morcha) and Ramlal Sharma (BJP Spokesperson). The committee will submit its report in seven days. “We have formed a four-member committee to examine the impotence and lawlessness of the Gehlot government which is still unable to find the accused and bring justice to the family,” said the head of the BJP of Rajasthan, Satish Poonia, after forming the committee.

Earlier, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje took to Twitter and criticized the government led by Ashok Gehlot. “Incidents of rape are on the rise in the city. Our sisters and daughters are not safe at all. This incident is shocking because a specially disabled girl was assaulted and thrown to the side of the road. The government must wake up now,” Raje tweeted.

Alwar Police had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday to investigate the case of abduction and rape of a minor in Alwar. A 15-year-old specially disabled girl is currently undergoing treatment at JK Lon Hospital in Jaipur.

“The girl is in intensive care and on oxygen. She was taken to hospital in an unconscious state and was bleeding. According to Alwar SP Tejaswani Gautam, a 15-year-old girl, also suffering from a speech impediment, was found bleeding near an airlift in Alwar around 7:30 p.m., about 25 kilometers from her home. “As soon as the police arrived on the scene, she was seen bleeding profusely from her private parts, which clearly indicated that she had been sexually assaulted. She was taken to an intensive care unit at Alwar hospital. and later referred to JK Lon Hospital, Jaipur,” Alwar SP Tejaswani Gautam told Outlook. A team of forensic experts also traveled to Alwar from Jaipur to collect samples.

The minor’s family members demanded justice and the rapid arrest of the culprits. “We need justice. The police should now have arrested the culprits. We are helpless and we feel very bad,” said the victim’s uncle, who is also in hospital. The family members also met with Rajasthan Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena and Medical Education Secretary Vaibhav Galeria and called for the speedy arrest of the culprits.
