Cheney Jan 6 committee asks Sean Hannity to cooperate with investigation

United States Representative Liz Cheney asks Fox News host Sean Hannity to cooperate with his committee in its investigation into the events surrounding the storming of the United States Capitol a year ago .
In one letter sent to Hannity on Tuesday, Cheney and U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson, D-Mississippi, the vice-chairs of the committee investigating the January 6, 2021 invasion, wrote that they were seeking “voluntary cooperation on a specific and narrow range of factual issues. ”And do not seek“ information concerning any of your programs, your political opinions or comments ”.
The letter implied that Hannity had advance knowledge of a riot or some type of situation set to occur on January 6, 2021, the day Congress met to certify the results of the presidential election.
“We cannot lose the entire WH advisers office,” Hannity wrote to President Donald Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows on December 31, 2020. “I do NOT see January 6 unfolding as he is told. “After the 6th. He should announce that he will lead the national effort to reform voting integrity. Go to Fl and watch Joe mess every day. Stay engaged. When he speaks, people will listen.”
In a text on Jan.5, Hannity wrote that he was worried for the next 48 hours, but did not say why.
“With the counting of the electoral votes scheduled for January 6 at 1 p.m., why were you worried about the next 48 hours?” the chairs requested in the letter.
This request to Hannity comes less than a month after Cheney revealed texts from him and fellow Fox News host Laura Ingraham sent to Meadows during the riot.
According to Cheney’s reading, Ingraham told Meadows that Trump was destroying his legacy by not telling protesters to leave.
“Mark, the president has to tell the people on Capitol Hill to go home,” Ingraham wrote to Meadows that day. “It hurts us all. He destroys his heritage.
Cheney also read a text sent to Meadows by Sean Hannity asking if Trump could make a statement and tell the rioters to go home.
In mid-December, Hannity said that Cheney’s reveal of the texts showed she was trying to smear him.
“Surprise, surprise, surprise: I said to Mark Meadows the exact same thing I was saying live on the radio then and on TV that night on January 6th and well beyond January 6th. “, did he declare. “By the way, where is the outrage in the media over my private text messages being made public again? Do we believe in privacy in this country? Apparently not.”
Hannity added that he was an honest and straightforward person.
“Liz, let’s release your phone records and your texts, and your family discussing Donald Trump, since you’re so free to release everyone’s records,” Hannity said. “You’re a rock star now to the media crowd, temporarily. They will come after you again.
Meadows has received numerous texts from members of Congress, the press (including Fox News hosts) and Trump’s own family, urging him to persuade Trump to take action and call the rioters.
