Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], February 23 (ANI): A new regional forensic medicine laboratory (FSL), which has started operating in Hisar, will speed up criminal investigations in Haryana, the Haryana police spokesman informed Tuesday.
“Three such laboratories are already operational in Bhondsi in Gurugram, Sunaria in Rohtak and Moginand in Panchkula, in addition to the main facility in Madhuban,” police said.
The new regional FSL began receiving samples and exhibits related to various criminal cases for review in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS), Toxicology and Serology Divisions from February 12, 2021.
The spokesperson said the new lab will receive samples from four districts of Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa and Hansi Police District.
“The aim of establishing the regional laboratory is to ensure a more efficient investigation process using scientific methods. This would ensure rapid preparation of reports and therefore elimination of cases,” added the spokesperson.
Previously, the four districts depended on FSL Madhuban for forensic expertise. They will now report to FSL, Hisar.
Police personnel spent a great deal of time and resources traveling police personnel to file a case and receive a report. Now, with the regional laboratory becoming operational, the results will be available as soon as possible, thus speeding up the entire investigation process, the police added. (ANI)
